But Is It Art? ...No, Not Really

Hokay, so this is going to be a pretty short post. I promised to upload some panels, and that's a what I'm a gonna do.

A friend of mine has asked why I draw pictures of characters on the sides of the page. Well, here's why. Just to ruin your day! But seriously, it helps to have a quick reference on a character I'm drawing in a panel, sort of like a folder tab. I can also jot down notes on the character's unique facial structure, hair style, general facial expressions, height, body type and more. Here are a few character profiles to give you an example - some are more complete than others. These characters are the ones shown in chibi format on my very first post (advertising for my own blog within my blog, how shameless). I put in a quote that expresses each character's general speech patterns. For instance, Floyd generally likes to keep things short, whereas Isabelle uses much more expressive language.

Floyd Tiryaki
Terrence Wyatt-Lee
Isabelle DesMarais
Chester Blackwater
Aaron McTaggart
Elizabeth Hart
Kirin Cisto
Leonardo Tripodi Francisco
Mert Kaya
Sathya Nagpal
Tenoch
Wendy Jernigan

Like I said above, I use these to flesh out how a character will look in a given panel. For example, I used Floyd and Tenoch's profiles while creating this, erm, masterpiece (I just chose to draw a random section from Tenoch's storyline):

Since I might as well, here are a few other random sketches/panels I've been doing in the past couple weeks. These generally take me 15 minutes to complete.

Chaos (M-74, one of the characters yet to be profiled)

Ghost of Ninja's Past (Han Myeong Lim, another character yet to be profiled)

Angel Heights (Nathan Riley, yet anoth - okay, you get the point)

Home, Sweet Home (1st page of Floyd's back-story panel)

Piracy is the New Black

Shoryuken?

Mert's Storyline Pt. 1

Mert's Storyline Pt. 2

As usual, I don't plan to color the complete products for any of these, since....bleh, you don't want to see what happens to otherwise decent pictures when I get through with them. Remember the ruined Jesus fresco? Well, that lady got lessons from me!

Anyways, stay tuned for more Tales of Stuff! Since Jayson Grant's sparring seminar is coming up in a couple weeks, I'll probably post something about that after the fact. It's going to be something else!

By the way, today is my brother's birthday. Happy birthday, Disashi!!! You're always an inspiration to everything I do and show me that anything's possible with the right combination of willpower and action. I will pay it forward and (hopefully) inspire someone else the same way.
